My art historically has been abstract and expressive and continues to evolve. It grew out of a lack of vocabulary and continues to be an outlet to make sense of the world around me as well as a space to make sense of myself in the world.
For me, the importance has never been in painstakingly representing a subject, but allowing the process to run its course. The medium, the context and the viewer’s perspective are just as important–if not more important–than the elements of the composition. But most importantly it is the people on both sides of the process.
It is putting boundaries on a small space (whether its a canvas, piece of paper, or whatever) where the contents are real but only subject to what you choose to impose on them; its a space for both of us to explore our own emotions, ideas, projections and assumptions.
For me the space allows me stand resolutely human, even while surrounded by things that can seem so threatening. I hope the space enables you to live better as well.
This little space on the internet is devoted to learning to look outward more and marvel in the beauty of the generative aspects of the creative process of the natural world; it is to hopefully inspire or at least accompany you on whatever journey you are on.
